Continent number six! Our last leg of the trip. Having just spent about six weeks in Africa running around non stop we arrived in Lisbon exhausted. We had an amazing Airbnb with a huge couch with two separate bedrooms and we spent the first full day just relaxing. We were both in need of some alone time.
The nine month adventure has come to an end. I am both sad and excited to be home. My guess is the excitement will wear off quickly and I will want to be back on the road again.
Since I am an accounting nerd her is a little recap of how we saved money on this trip.
We decided to go to Senegal based on a DNA test. Earlier last year Tim and I did the ancestry DNA test. Surprise surprise I am like 98% European (mostly Germany). Tim found out that he had matches in Western Africa. One of the areas being Senegal. So we decided to visit Dakar, Senegal for our last stop in Africa. This was a much different stop than our previous countries in Africa.
Our next stop in Africa was Zimbabwe. Victoria Falls to be exact. Victoria Falls sits on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. You can visit both countries and get different views of the falls. We decided to stay in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe for the week because we heard the views and the city was more active.
Our next stop in Africa was South Africa....Kruger National Park to be specific. We flew into Johannesburg and hopped a bus with our tour mates Marie and her son Jack from Ireland with Absolute Africa. We booked a 4 day tour to include a game drive in Kruger National Park but it also included a few nights at Balula Private Reserve.
