We leave in a week and the excitement is building! It seemed like it was taking forever to get here and now that it is here I am starting to get anxious. Are we ready? I know we are ready. We have the next eight weeks planned and everyone wants to know:
Where are you going? Where are you staying? What are you going to do?
Here is a little run down:
First Stop- Peru: We will spend a few days in Lima and Cusco before heading to the Sacred Valley and UNESCO World Heritage Site Machu Picchu. We will be in the heart of the Andes Mountains hoping we don’t need our altitude sickness medicine. We are also taking a bus tour down to Puno/Lake Titicaca to see the floating island city.
Second Stop- Chile: We will spend a few days in Santiago and Valparaiso exploring the city before heading to Antofagasta to see the UNESCO World Heritage Site Hand in the Desert. We also plan to take a train ride through Chile on a wine tour as well as some fun bike wine tours.
Third Stop- Argentina: We head to Buenos Aires to enjoy the city before heading to north to UNESCO World Heritage Site Iguazu Falls. We are staying at a hotel in the National Park. The falls will be right next to us!!! We are hoping to hop over to the other side of the falls and see Paraguay.
Fourth Stop- Ecuador: We head straight for the equator in Quito for a few days before spending Christmas in the Galapagos Islands. Snorkeling, sea turtles, kayaking, iguana, hiking, seals, penguins…..
Fifth and Final Stop- Costa Rica: We will be spending New Years on the beach. We decided to spend a little more at the end of our trip and booked a few nights at an all-inclusive resort. We will hike up a volcano, zip line, coffee tour (I can almost smell it).
We then head back to the States for a few weeks to get some thing done, plan for the next leg, and hit up a wedding. While we have the next weeks planned out pretty good, we are hoping to be a bit more relaxed on the second leg of our trip leaving in February. More on that later.
Have you been to any of these areas? If so, is there any must see places or things to do? Leave a comment below letting us know.
